Lead Procurement Engineer

Job description

The Lead Procurement Engineer is responsible for procuring technical goods and services for operations. Evaluates new and existing suppliers and negotiates purchase agreements. Ensures timely delivery of goods and services. Develops and implements procurement strategies to support objectives such as cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier diversification. Leads procurement teams, providing guidance and mentorship for effective execution. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to assess needs and develop procurement plans. Identifies, evaluates, and selects suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery time, and technical capability. Negotiates contracts, terms, and pricing to achieve favorable terms and cost savings. Monitors supplier performance with regular assessments and audits to ensure compliance and quality standards. Resolves supplier issues and disputes to mitigate risks and maintain project timelines. Develops relationships with key suppliers for long‑term partnerships. Analyzes market trends and conducts supplier research to identify process improvement and cost‑saving opportunities. Maintains accurate procurement records and documentation in line with policies and regulations. Supports HSE initiatives and participates in safety awareness activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• Professional qualification in Supply Chain/Logistics or related technical certificates
• minimum 8 years overall work experience
• at least 5 years relevant experience
• 2 years GCC experience preferred
• thorough understanding of procurement processes including sourcing, bidding, and contract negotiation
• strong technical knowledge of engineering principles
• excellent analytical abilities for supplier proposal assessment and cost analysis
