Head of PMO

Job description

The Head of PMO leads the Project Manager team within the Business Solutions Department, overseeing portfolio governance, delivery compliance, and PMO framework maturity across all concurrent projects. Sets delivery standards, coaches the team, and governs project initiation, execution, escalation, and closure. Combines people leadership with PMO ownership, builds a Center of Excellence, drives standardized controls, and delivers executive-ready reporting for full portfolio visibility. Ensures projects meet or exceed budget estimates through baseline discipline, change control, and early financial intervention.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent
• PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP or MoP certification preferred
• Agile certifications such as CSM, PSM or SAFe an advantage
• 7+ years experience in PMO leadership, portfolio governance or delivery assurance
• at least 3 years of direct line management of Project Managers
• proven track record building or significantly improving a PMO framework from near‑scratch with clear outcomes
• managing a portfolio of 8+ concurrent complex implementations in technology, B2B or professional services
• strong expertise in portfolio analytics and performance reporting including KPIs, health frameworks, variance analysis and RAID
• experience managing cross‑functional stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Commercial) within a RACI‑governed model
• preferred experience in a Centre of Excellence, PMO transformation or operational excellence function
