Environment and Sustainability Specialist

Job description

We are searching for an Environment and Sustainability Specialist to join our team in Saudi Arabia. The Environment and Sustainability Specialist will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects and will coordinate impact assessments, review and evaluate impacts, develop mitigation measures, and support the development of Environmental and Social Management Plans on behalf of a government client. The role will be a combination of fieldwork and report writing and will be based in client offices in Riyadh, KSA. Responsibilities include assisting in developing and implementing sustainability policies and procedures across various departments, conducting environmental assessments and sustainability audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with local regulations, coordinating and delivering environmental audits and environmental and social impact assessments, collaborating with project teams to integrate sustainability considerations into project planning and execution, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on environmental performance metrics, providing training and guidance to staff on sustainability practices and environmental regulations, staying informed about emerging sustainability trends and best practices, and recommending innovative solutions, and engaging with stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives and community outreach efforts

Requirements

• Fluency in English
• proficiency in Arabic is an advantage, experience conducting environmental assessments and audits, Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field, minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability, or a related field, strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability frameworks, good understanding and practical experience with international lender standards e.g., Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sustainability reporting tools, professional membership or certification with recognized organizations would be advantageous
