Procurement Engineer

Job description

Responsible for overseeing the purchase of technical equipment for industrial operations. Collaborates with designers to determine equipment needed for projects per specifications, researches vendors and places orders. Contributes to developing procurement management strategies, ensures understanding of strategic business relationships, provides market insights to stakeholders, participates in formulating total procurement value plans, implements best‑practice policies and procedures to improve performance, engages internal and external stakeholders to reduce costs and enhance service, supports senior leaders in setting short‑ and long‑term objectives, utilizes expert industry knowledge for relationship strategies, defines measurable goals to improve financial performance, assists in implementing purchasing policies for savings and value, maintains supplier, material and service information, upgrades procurement talent through attraction, development and retention, provides regular coaching and mentoring, adheres to cost‑reduction and value‑improvement plans. Applies economies of scale and best practices, communicates supply strategy to stakeholders, interacts at executive level for long‑term partnership alignment, contributes to savings and cash‑flow programs, makes timely decisions, uses competitive insights to shape strategies, builds external alliances for competitive advantage, removes organizational barriers, models role‑aligned behavior, manages financial and budgetary requirements, identifies metrics and tools to optimize sourcing, evaluates business challenges to mitigate risks, drives continuous improvement and work simplification, supports HSE initiatives and safety awareness

Requirements

• Proficiency in engineering principles and technical specifications
• strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals and technical compliance
• knowledge of procurement processes and regulations
• excellent negotiation abilities for favorable terms, pricing and delivery
• effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration
• ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills
• minimum 8 years working experience
• 5 years relevant experience
• 2 years GCC experience a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• professional qualification in supply chain/logistics or related technical certificates
