The role involves professionally managing the library. Tasks include managing and developing library affairs.

About this profession: Library managers supervise the correct usage of library equipment and items. They manage the provided services of a library and the operation of the departments within a library. Library managers also provide training for new staff members and manage the budget of the library.

Typical duties of this profession:

• Participate in development of Library’s main objectives; develop and implement plans, programs and projects contributing in the achievement thereof, and ensure the availability of accurate frameworks and metrics for finding such strategic plans and objectives achievement level.

• Supervise performance and works of all regulatory units and work teams of Library; lead, direct and follow up the flow of general operations and procedures, as well as provided services level; ensure consistency and conformity thereof with adopted quality standards.

• Follow up latest scientific and technological developments and updates in the field of preservation, indexing and retrieval of books, documents and information by using computers, electronic and optical documentation; supervise procedures of organization of receipt and delivery of books and other library assets.

• Follow up the studying of new books circulation volume; determine the level of demand for such books; evaluate selection’s success; contact publishing houses, and review lists thereof, and follow up all publications of specialized newspapers and magazines thereon.

• Supervise the preparation of general summary and reports of the flow of procedures within the library, submit the same to senior management, and inform the same of different challenges and updates; consult senior management on different emergent issues.
