Senior Traffic Expert

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Traffic Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Transport & Infrastructure team for a major project based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all traffic engineering and traffic management aspects during the construction and operational phases of a large-scale transport infrastructure project. • Lead the review, approval, and supervision of temporary and permanent traffic management plans and detour strategies. • Ensure traffic management designs are compliant with local standards, project-specific requirements, and international best practices. • Coordinate with municipal authorities, contractors, and traffic enforcement for successful implementation of traffic diversions and staging. • Monitor and supervise on-site implementation of traffic control measures, ensuring safety and minimal disruption to road users. • Identify and mitigate traffic-related risks, and support interface coordination across multiple contractors and project zones. • Provide strategic guidance on traffic flow optimization, congestion reduction, and public access during construction. • Lead the development of incident response plans and ensure emergency access routes are maintained at all times. • Mentor junior staff and contribute to capacity building within the project team. • Prepare and present technical reports, dashboards, and briefings to project stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related discipline
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in traffic engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or SME-level role.
• Proven experience working on large-scale infrastructure or transport projects within Saudi Arabia or the GCC.
• Strong knowledge of KSA regulatory frameworks, including MOT, Riyadh Municipality, and Royal Commission standards.
• Expertise in temporary traffic management (TTM), construction staging, and traffic impact mitigation.
• Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Synchro, SIDRA, VISSIM, or similar tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Arabic is a plus but not mandatory.
• Experience coordinating with public sector authorities, contractors, and multidisciplinary supervision teams.
