Senior Urban Designer

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Urban Designer to lead and support planning, design, and implementation of major urban development projects in Riyadh. Lead the preparation and development of master plans, urban design frameworks, and detailed proposals. Manage design packages from concept to implementation. Develop public realm, streetscape, and placemaking strategies to enhance livability. Conduct urban analysis, site assessments, and feasibility studies. Review and guide design reports, drawings, visualizations, and technical documentation. Ensure compliance with local regulations and policies. Coordinate with architects, landscape architects, engineers, and planning teams. Lead design workshops, stakeholder consultations, and client presentations. Provide technical leadership and mentor junior designers. Monitor implementation during construction. Support authority submissions and approvals. Promote sustainable development, smart city initiatives, walkability, and environmental stewardship. Assist project management with schedules, risks, and resources. Contribute to business development and client relationship activities. Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related field
• Master's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning or Urbanism preferred
• Professional membership with RTPI, ULI, APA, RIBA or equivalent advantageous
• Minimum 10-15 years of professional experience in urban design and master planning
• Proven experience delivering large-scale mixed-use, residential, commercial, hospitality and public realm projects
• Strong understanding of urban design principles, development planning and regulatory approval processes
• Experience on major GCC developments, preferably Saudi Arabia
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, GIS, Lumion, Enscape or similar tools
• Strong graphic communication, visualization, report writing and presentation skills
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and project coordination capabilities
• Fluent in English
• Arabic language skills an advantage
