Principal Specialist, Mine Waste to Value

Job description

The role drives transformation of mining waste streams into strategic business value. It identifies, evaluates, and scales waste valorization technologies to improve resource efficiency and support sustainability goals. Acts as a bridge between technology development, commercialization, and operational deployment to move concepts to implementation delivering financial, environmental, and strategic benefits. Develops waste-to-value strategy and portfolio, prioritizes value recovery from waste rock and tailings, creates marketable products, assesses emerging technologies, provides technical leadership for feasibility and due diligence, advances projects through labs, pilots and commercial rollout, builds strategic partnerships with research institutions, universities, technology providers and startups, evaluates market opportunities and business models, and ensures revenue generation while reducing environmental liabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field
• more than 7 years of experience in mining, mineral processing, technology development, innovation, business development or strategic partnership environments
• experience in mine waste, waste rock, tailings valorization, resource recovery or circular economy initiatives
• proven experience leading technology development, pilot programs, feasibility studies or commercialization projects
• demonstrated experience managing executive, governmental, industry and research stakeholder relationships
• proficiency in mine waste valorization
• proficiency in resource recovery technologies
• proficiency in circular economy solutions
• proficiency in technology scouting and assessment
