Technical Director - Electrical

Job description

The candidate provides technical leadership for electrical building services and coordinates with multidisciplinary MEP teams. Maintains strong client and stakeholder relationships and ensures high‑quality project delivery in line with requirements, codes, authority standards and the employer quality procedures. Leads electrical design reviews, challenges assumptions, resolves complex technical and multidisciplinary interfaces, and oversees power distribution, lighting, emergency power, earthing, lightning protection, ELV and life‑safety systems. Ensures designs are coordinated, buildable, efficient and aligned with client brief, codes, sustainability goals and the employer procedures. Promotes innovative, digitally enabled solutions to improve quality, coordination and outcomes. Provides senior technical leadership throughout project delivery, supporting mobilisation, design development, coordination and close‑out. Works closely with the client, project management, architects, engineers and specialist consultants. Monitors technical risks, program interfaces, design dependencies and quality, intervening early when corrective action is needed. Represents the employer as a trusted senior technical adviser and maintains professional relationships with clients and partners. Guides and mentors electrical engineers, fosters collaboration across the Building Services team, coordinates with the employer specialists regionally and globally, and applies project management, QA, H&S, ethics and governance standards. Supports scope, change, risk and commercial awareness within the project team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related field
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional registration
• 25+ years experience in Electrical Building Services
• extensive Middle East experience delivering major complex projects
• significant Saudi Arabia experience, especially mega and giga projects, with strong knowledge of KSA market, local codes and authority requirements
• proven technical expertise in Electrical Building Services with comprehensive knowledge of integrated MEP design and multidisciplinary coordination
• track record of leading electrical and multidisciplinary teams on large-scale projects
• strong client‑facing and relationship management experience
• strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills with credibility to represent the business at senior levels
• excellent communication, presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, commercially aware approach.
