Traffic Engineer

Job description

Join a new PMO working on major highway and infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Review and design traffic signals, junctions, temporary works, and traffic control plans while ensuring effective communication with the project team throughout the lifecycle. Develop and manage the scope, schedule, and budget of each traffic engineering task and monitor progress and resource allocation. Prepare traffic engineering plans such as signal designs, signing and marking, conceptual intersection designs, or Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) designs. Coordinate with surveyors and roadway designers to ensure successful project delivery. Conduct and document traffic studies using nationally accepted modeling practices and analytical tools to evaluate patterns, assess safety, and recommend improvements. Develop technical approaches, review results prepared by others, and ensure adherence to quality standards. Contribute to the successful delivery of traffic engineering projects, promoting safety and improving transportation operations.

Requirements

• Understanding of traffic analysis tools including HCS, Transmodeler, Synchro/SimTraffic
• Understanding of traffic operations principles per ITE, OMUTCD, MUTCD, ODOT TEM, AASHTO, ODOT L&D
• Experience working in a multi‑discipline team environment
• Proactive approach to own activities and assisting other disciplines
• Previous experience working in a PMO
• Chartered status with an industry‑recognized engineering body
• Experience managing large tasks or projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 10+ years of related work experience
• Familiarity with Microstation, Bentley OpenRoads, and/or Projectwise
• Experience developing traffic engineering design plans
• Experience in traffic management design and planning
• Experience in ODOT design standards, ITS design, traffic operations studies, or intersection conceptual drafting
• Experience reviewing third‑party designs and coordinating comments for approval
• Proficiency in CAD and other engineering PC software packages.
