Survey Manager

Job description

Role: Lead and direct survey teams for a comprehensive airport program. Responsibilities: Establish and enforce surveying procedures, standards, and QA/QC protocols; develop survey plans, control networks, and reporting frameworks; integrate survey data with design and construction workflows; oversee topographic, construction, and geospatial surveys of airport infrastructure; manage field survey teams to ensure accurate and timely data collection; ensure survey deliverables meet aviation standards and contractual requirements; process, validate, and deliver survey data to engineering teams; maintain survey databases, GIS platforms, and digital models; prepare executive reports and dashboards for senior leadership; identify survey risks and implement mitigation strategies; comply with aviation safety and regulatory standards; conduct QA/QC audits of data and procedures; leverage advanced technologies such as total stations, GNSS/GPS, LiDAR, UAVs, and 3D laser scanning; introduce digital tools and automated processes; support BIM and digital twin initiatives; lead and mentor a multidisciplinary survey team; promote a culture of precision, accountability, and continuous improvement; coordinate closely with engineering, construction, and project controls; liaise with airport authorities, government agencies, contractors, and consultants; ensure survey strategies align with project milestones and safe operational practices.

Requirements

• Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development, certifications, and training
• Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field
• Master’s degree or specialized certification in survey management preferred
• Minimum 10 years of experience in surveying for airport, airfield, or aviation infrastructure projects
• Expert-level proficiency with survey instruments, GNSS/GPS, total stations, LiDAR, UAVs, and GIS software
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Knowledge of surveying quality standards, calibration protocols, and data validation techniques
• Professional certifications: RICS, CPEng, or equivalent
• Experience with BIM, 3D modeling, and digital surveying platforms
• Knowledge of FIDIC or similar contract standards in construction projects
• Ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced, multi-stakeholder airport programs
• Proven experience managing survey teams on large-scale civil or aviation projects
• Strong expertise in topographic, construction, geospatial, and as-built surveys
• Solid understanding of airport construction sequencing, airfield design standards, and aviation safety requirements
