Senior ITS Engineer

Job description

the employer is seeking a Senior ITS Engineer to provide program‑level technical leadership and oversee ITS integration across a complex urban road network. The role involves reviewing designs, assessing contractor proposals, and ensuring system integration with Traffic Control Centers. The engineer will manage planning, design development, contractor submissions, and interfaces for multiple road and corridor projects. Responsibilities include overseeing fiber‑optic communication networks, reviewing functional design documents, and ensuring compliance with international and local standards. Coordination with designers, contractors, authorities, and operators is required to achieve operational readiness and deliver technical reports to senior management. The position also mentors junior engineers and contributes to PMO capability building.

Requirements

• Proficient in urban ITS systems and architecture
• Proficient in intersections, VMS/DMS, AID, ramp metering, ANPR, and field devices
• Proficient in ITS communications and fiber optic networks
• Proven experience reviewing contractor and vendor technical proposals and multidisciplinary designs
• Strong understanding of ITS system integration, interoperability, cybersecurity, and data communications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 15 years of experience in ITS planning, design, integration, and delivery on large‑scale urban road or highway projects
• Proficient with relevant international standards and protocols such as NTCIP, IP networking, ONVIF, SNMP
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage senior stakeholders
• Strong coordination, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
• Proficient in working with traffic management centers, smart mobility platforms, and city‑wide ITS integration
• Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for ITS and operational networks
• Professional certifications (PMP, PE, CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent)
