Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Job description

Role: Lead a team of Geotechnical Engineers and collaborate with design consultants and engineering teams to deliver complex geotechnical solutions for tunnels, deep excavations, diaphragm walls, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities: Review geotechnical designs, earth structures, urban excavations, and MSE walls for compliance; provide technical recommendations for subsurface investigation programs and site exploration; oversee field investigations, assessments, sampling, and soil classification; perform advanced analyses of soil and rock properties, foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement, earth pressures, and seismic effects; select and apply appropriate geotechnical methods and design criteria; conduct grading, drainage, slope stability, liquefaction, and lateral spreading analyses; review technical proposals and bids and advise decision‑making; ensure QA/QC procedures are implemented; provide technical leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder guidance; prepare and review technical reports and design recommendations; support project planning, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
• minimum 15 years of experience on major civil, infrastructure or construction projects
• proven experience in geotechnical investigations, interpretation and design of shallow and deep foundations, piles, retaining walls, tunnels and related infrastructure
• strong knowledge of project management, client coordination and engineering reporting
• proficiency in geotechnical analysis software such as gINT, PLAXIS, Slope/W, Seep/W, Piglet or equivalent tools
• strong client relationship management, mentoring, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
• excellent written and verbal communication with ability to prepare clear technical reports
• comprehensive understanding of geotechnical engineering practices, industry standards and regulatory requirements
• experience leading and managing geotechnical engineering teams
• prior GCC project experience, preferably Saudi Arabia
• experience on railway, metro, transit or transportation projects
• professional registration (PE, CEng or equivalent)
• experience delivering geotechnical solutions for large‑scale underground, transportation or complex infrastructure projects.
