Senior Traffic Engineer

Job description

Work within a new PMO on major highway and infrastructure projects in Riyadh, the capital of KSA. Oversee traffic signal, junction, temporary works designs and ensure effective communication with the project team throughout the lifecycle. Develop and manage the scope of each traffic engineering task, create schedules, set budgets, and monitor progress and resource allocation. Provide regular written and verbal status updates to the project manager, reporting milestones, risks and mitigation strategies. Present technical results and recommendations based on traffic engineering expertise. Lead the team in preparing traffic engineering plans, including signal, signing and marking designs, intersection concepts, and ITS designs. Coordinate with surveyors and roadway designers to ensure successful project delivery. Conduct and document traffic studies following nationally accepted modeling practices. Assist engineers in developing technical approaches and review others' technical results. Contribute to successful delivery of traffic engineering projects, promoting safety and improving transportation operations.

Requirements

• Understanding of traffic analysis tools including HCS, Transmodeler, Synchro/SimTraffic
• Understanding of traffic operations principles per ITE, OMUTCD, MUTCD, ODOT TEM, AASHTO, ODOT L&D
• Experience working within a multi‑discipline team
• Proactive approach to own activities and assisting other disciplines to improve PMO efficiency
• Previous experience working in a PMO
• Chartered (or similar) status with an industry‑recognized engineering body
• Experience managing large tasks or projects
• Proficiency with Microstation, Bentley OpenRoads, and/or Projectwise
• Experience developing traffic signal design plans
• Experience in ODOT design standards, ITS design, traffic operations studies, or intersection conceptual drafting
• Experience reviewing third‑party designs and coordinating comments for approval
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 15+ years related work experience
• Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering
• Provide training and guidance to junior engineers, sharing technical proficiency and consultancy skills.
