Backend Engineer

The role involves building great products, enhancing existing experiences, and developing distributed systems powering the Middle East's largest travel e-commerce site. Responsibilities: design technical and integration architectures including development, runtime, and operations; define scalable solutions using SOA patterns and microservices; design message and event-driven architectures; lead implementation of complex solutions from requirements to go-live; provide technical design across multiple projects; deliver technology consulting covering architectural strategy, reviews, and roadmaps; manage risks, issues, and dependencies; define integration technology roadmaps; introduce Agile processes to the team.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• 4+ years of intensive Java backend development and solution architecture (Java, Spring Boot, API Security, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
• knowledge of NodeJS is nice to have
• should work on Java 8 or Java 11
• strong hands‑on platform delivery and architecture design experience
• full understanding of Cloud services, AWS and DevOps tools and CI/CD process
• strong experience with full Agile software development lifecycle and release management
• thought leadership and technical knowledge with delivery experience in legacy platform migration, RESTful APIs, API gateways, microservices architecture, cloud deployment (AWS)
• ability to influence and guide senior stakeholders
• excellent documentation, presentation and communication skills
