Research Technician (Agriculture/Greenhouse and Field Operations) Saudi Arabia

Job description

The Research Technician will support the Inter-Laboratory (iLab) at KAUST by assisting with greenhouse and growth chamber operations, laboratory testing, and field trials related to biochar and soil amendment research. The role includes preparing soil substrates, monitoring plant growth, performing soil and plant analyses, supporting irrigation and field deployment, and maintaining accurate experimental records to ensure the successful implementation of agricultural research projects. Requirements Support greenhouse and growth room operations, including setting up and maintaining plant growth experiments. Prepare soil substrates using biochar amendments (CarboSoil, SandX, and Superhydrophobic Sand) according to experimental protocols, monitoring plant health, growth conditions, and productivity metrics. Perform soil and plant sample analysis, including pH, EC, nutrient composition, and water retention. Assist with field experiments, soil preparation, cultivation, irrigation preparation, soil sampling, and environmental monitoring. Maintain laboratory inventory and experimental records and ensure adherence to laboratory safety procedures. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, plant science, soil science, horticulture, or related field. At least 5 years of practical experience in greenhouse operations, agricultural research, field experiments and soil/plant analysis. Experience with irrigation systems, greenhouse/growth room operations and laboratory testing. Knowledge of biochar and soil amendment technologies is an advantage. Proficiency in soil and plant analysis, including pH, electrical conductivity (EC), nutrient composition, and testing Water retention. Ability to maintain accurate experimental records, manage laboratory inventory, and follow laboratory safety procedures. A valid driver's license and willingness to work in field locations when needed
