Greenhouse Field Technician

Job description

the employer is looking for a skilled Greenhouse Technician to support greenhouse operations and ensure optimal plant growth in field conditions. The role involves hands-on field work, monitoring and managing environmental factors that affect plant health and productivity. We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher to assist with field and greenhouse-based research of plant breeding and genetics across different crops and species. The technician will need to independently implement and manage field and greenhouse activities, starting with research experiments and including designing field and greenhouse experiments, developing work plans for field research, maintaining and servicing research equipment, and managing field research plots and greenhouse plants for successful research and propagation. The candidate must be self-motivated, able to work in a multicultural environment, and have strong communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing. Responsibilities: • Monitor and manage environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity and soil moisture in greenhouse and field environments. • Ensure successful propagation of research plants • Manage greenhouse operations • Assist in planting, transplanting and maintaining crops within agricultural and field environments. • Collect phenotypic data necessary for successful experiments • Organize greenhouse and field spaces • Sit plants to anticipate diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions. • Operate and maintain irrigation and fertilization systems to ensure adequate supplies of water and nutrients. • Maintain accurate records of field activities, crop growth stages, and environmental data
