Senior Engineer for Transportation and Traffic Planning

Job description

The Senior Transportation Planning and Traffic Safety Engineer is responsible for leading transportation planning and traffic safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with international engineering standards and best practices. The role includes conducting technical reviews, supporting traffic engineering studies, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and government authorities to enhance road and traffic safety. ### Experience The ideal candidate must have at least **10 years of relevant experience**, primarily in: * Transportation Planning * Traffic Engineering * Traffic Safety Engineering ### Key Responsibilities The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: * Liaison with company representatives and government authorities to support and implement traffic and transportation safety improvements. * Serve as technical lead for traffic safety engineering tasks and provide technical direction, supervision and mentorship to junior engineering staff. * Review and develop scopes of work for transport-related studies and projects, including: * Road Safety Audits (RSA) * Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) * Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Plans * Other Transport Engineering and Traffic Safety Studies * Provide technical support and engineering recommendations to internal and external stakeholders to improve traffic operations, mobility and road safety. * Review roadway designs, engineering specifications and proposed infrastructure improvements within company facilities and surrounding areas, ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and best practices. * Preparing technical reports, engineering studies, minutes of meetings, correspondence, presentations, etc Technical notes and other project documents. * Support the continued development of the Traffic Safety Services Engineering team by establishing technical training programs, promoting knowledge exchange, and improving engineering processes and best practices. ### Technical Requirements The candidate must demonstrate strong technical expertise in: * Highway design * Transportation planning * Traffic engineering * Traffic safety studies * Road safety audits * Traffic impact assessments * Temporary traffic management * Traffic operations and mobility analysis ### Required skills * Comprehensive knowledge of international transportation engineering standards and guidelines, including: * AASHTO Green Book * Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) * Highway Safety Manual (HSM) * Guide to Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) * Institute of Transportation Engineers Guidelines (ITE) * Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) standards and guidelines * Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical evaluation skills. * Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare high quality engineering reports, technical specifications, presentations and professional correspondence. * Ability to coordinate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, government agencies, consultants and contractors. ### Education Bachelor's degree in **Civil Engineering** or related major in **Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering**. A master's degree in transportation engineering or any related field is preferred. ### Professional Certifications (Mandatory) The candidate must hold at least one of the following professional certifications or licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Professional Transportation Planner (PTP) RoSPA Road Safety Certification * Road Safety Professional (RSP) Internationally recognized professional certifications will also be considered
