About this profession: Mechanical engineering technicians provide technical support to mechanical engineers in producing and manufacturing mechanical machinery. They help make designs and adjustments, and perform tests. They also develop layouts and drawings, collate and interpret data and write reports.

Typical duties of this profession:

• Assist in development of new theories and improvement of current methods in this field.

• Contribute to overall design process, and provide advice on materials and quality standards.

• Provide support to engineering projects; supervise implementation of operations; install systems; set timetable and cost estimates.

• Provide support to systems’ maintenance and repair.

• Compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
