Linux User Computing Research Specialist

Job description

The role of the specialist is to design, operate, and optimize computing platforms for research on Linux at the employer, including Ubuntu and Rocky Linux devices, physical scientific workstations, and virtual scientific workstation services. Ensures secure, reliable, and high-performance access to scientific desktop environments for faculty, researchers, and students. Responsibilities: Manage, maintain and optimize Ubuntu and Rocky Linux platforms to provide stable and secure scientific workstation services. Develop, standardize, and maintain build Linux workstation images for physical and virtual machines to ensure consistency, reliability, and readiness for research use. Manage and support remote scientific workstation platforms including NICE DCV and Kasm W.
