EH&S Officer

Job description

Coordinate all safety activities and prepare internal and external reports. Conduct audits and reviews according to company targets. Develop operations engineers and supervisors through a training program to manage health, safety and environment requirements at their sites. Provide assistance and technical support for periodic safety requirements. Train engineers and supervisors on accident investigations and hazard detection, and follow up on training and audit effectiveness. Perform unannounced audits to ensure EH&S requirements are implemented and review supporting documentation. Comply with the Safety Policy, regulatory and company EH&S rules. Recommend improved EH&S practices and ensure a safe workplace for all staff. Monitor communication systems to deliver regular safety messages. Ensure certified tools are provided and maintain documentation. Conduct written risk assessments for new projects as required. Track recognition and disciplinary actions. Address external audit observations within deadlines. Ensure timely accident reporting and implement corrective and preventive actions. Maintain safety records methodically.

Requirements

• Proven experience as Safety Officer minimum 5 years
• NEBOSH IGC and IOSH Managing Safely certifications
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification
• knowledge of OSHA
• First Aid and fire fighting certifications
• knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
• experience in writing health and safety reports and policies
• familiarity with data analysis and statistical reporting
• proficient in MS Office
• excellent organizational skills
• diligent with great attention to detail
• excellent communication skills with ability to present health and safety topics
• BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or related field preferred
• certificate in Health and Safety
• working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
