General Accountant

Job description

The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, supporting month‑end close, and ensuring transactions are recorded in line with hotel policies and accounting standards. Key duties include: maintaining and updating the general ledger; recording and verifying daily transactions and journal entries; performing monthly bank, balance‑sheet and ledger reconciliations; assisting with month‑end and year‑end closing; preparing supporting schedules for balance‑sheet accounts; reviewing accounts payable and receivable when needed; monitoring intercompany accounts and internal transfers; ensuring proper recording of hotel revenues, expenses and other transactions; contributing to monthly financial and management reports; investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies; supporting accruals, prepayments, provisions and adjusting entries; ensuring compliance with hotel financial policies, accounting standards and internal controls; maintaining proper documentation and filing; assisting internal and external audits; collaborating with finance team members and hotel departments for accurate reporting; assisting the Financial Controller and Chief Accountant with ad‑hoc tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a 4- or 5-star hotel
• Good knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
• Strong understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and prepayments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast‑paced hotel environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
• Previous experience in a luxury or international hotel
• Knowledge of hospitality revenue, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and income audit processes
• Professional accounting certification or qualification is an advantage
