Procurement Engineer

Job description

Purpose of the role is to accept purchase requisitions, bills of material and to prepare or execute purchase orders and vendor selection. Receives and reviews stores requisitions for goods and services. Receives and reviews bills of material for job related purchasing. Records proposals and quotes including vendor price and delivery terms. Manages all subcontracted work such as fabrications, machining, calibration and building maintenance. Conducts value analysis and life‑cycle costing with the supply chain manager. Ensures all drawings and specifications are attached to purchase orders. Places purchase orders within delegated authority and protects the company commercially. Procures goods and services only from approved suppliers. Updates the supplier database according to protocol with QC involvement. Communicates with suppliers by phone and email as needed. Reviews purchase requisitions with the Procurement Lead before issuing POs. Communicates order progress to internal customers. Maintains a manual log of purchase orders with date, job number, inspection level and ERP traceability. Sends RFQs with full details to suppliers. Develops cost‑effective procurement strategies. Uses supplier performance and history in ERP before ordering. Rationalizes the vendor database by establishing partnerships and framework agreements with key vendors.

• Knowledge of cost‑effective procurement strategies
• Engineering degree or higher
• 2 to 3 years of experience
