HS&E Manager (Metro/Rail Exp)

Job description

Lead and manage the HS&E function for a major rail infrastructure project, reporting to the Project Director. Provide strategic and hands‑on leadership, build relationships with senior management, contractors and client, and champion a Zero Harm culture. Responsibilities include supporting the leadership team, improving HSE service efficiency, coordinating continuous improvement workshops, managing an HSE team, reviewing design‑build contractor compliance, auditing performance, maintaining regulatory‑aligned management systems, ensuring legislative compliance, developing HSE policies and procedures, implementing emergency plans, identifying hazards and risk assessments, preparing HSE documentation, investigating incidents and reporting findings.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years experience on heavy civil engineering projects
• experience leading a team of HS&E professionals
• NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA, IRCA or equivalent certification
• registered Lead Auditor
• ability to deliver in high‑pressure, fast‑paced environments
• ability to build relationships across all organizational levels
• effective communication and persuasive presentation skills
• suitable Environmental Management qualification
• experience on metros, rail or related projects
