Job description

Receives and disburses money in establishments other than financial institutions. Uses electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment. May also process credit or debit card transactions and validate checks

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (some jobs accept less than that)
• Little or no experience is acceptable, with on-the-job training from days to a year
• Proficiency in operating point-of-sale devices, electronic scanners, and dealing with payment cards
• Accuracy in handling cash and settling the cashier at the end of the shift
• Customer service skills and the ability to work in shifts
