CCR - Control Room Desk Operator

Job description

Responsible for continuous monitoring, controlling and coordination of operational activities in the control room of a combined cycle power plant. Ensures optimal performance of generation systems in line with dispatch instructions and Power Purchase Agreements. Collaborates with teams and departments to maintain safe and efficient operations. Responsibilities: monitor all power generation systems including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs and auxiliary HV systems; operate and adjust controls to optimize performance and meet limits; coordinate dispatch instructions from the Load Dispatch Centre and implement them timely; record operational parameters and prepare performance, incident and compliance reports; follow safety protocols, participate in audits, drills and report hazards; support the Shift Charge Engineer in isolations and PTW preparation; act as an emergency response team member; troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions; work with maintenance, engineering and operations teams; train junior operators; ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma preferably in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
• minimum 5 years total professional experience
• over 3 years as CCR Operator in O&M of combined cycle power plants
• Siemens GT based CCGT experience preferred
• strong understanding of combined cycle generation processes, regulatory considerations and PPA obligations
• proficiency in English
• Arabic knowledge advantageous
• ability to work in a dynamic high‑pressure environment and manage emergencies
• willingness to work shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
• experience with control room operations and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
• work primarily performed in control room with occasional plant visits.
