Process Safety Engineer (Contractor)

At Air Products we reimagine what’s possible. We are seeking a Process Safety Lead to provide site leadership for Process Safety Engineering during commissioning, start‑up and early operation of the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project. The role links engineering design, field modifications, commissioning, operations and safety‑management systems. The successful candidate will lead practical implementation of process‑safety requirements on site, assess hazards, drive actions to closure and embed requirements before systems transition to operation. The position is critical as hazardous inventories and operating conditions increase, making robust process‑safety management and emergency readiness essential.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum of 10 years of industry experience
• Strong professional experience in Process Safety within chemical, energy, hydrogen, ammonia, oil & gas or petrochemical facilities
• Demonstrable experience on major‑project commissioning, start‑up or operation
• Practical experience of Process Hazard Analysis and process‑safety risk assessment
• Working knowledge of Process Safety Management frameworks and hazardous‑process facilities
• Ability to work across engineering, construction, commissioning, operations and safety organizations
• Hands‑on experience facilitating HAZOP and LOPA workshops
• Experience with Management of Change and field‑change risk assessment
• Experience supporting commissioning and operational‑readiness programmes
• Experience with hydrogen, ammonia or other highly hazardous chemical facilities
• Advantageous: prior Middle East or Saudi Arabia major‑project/site experience
• Experience taking process‑safety recommendations from identification through field implementation and verified closure.
