Director - Health, Safety and Environment

Job description

The role includes overseeing the development and implementation of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and promoting a culture of safety across all organizational levels. This position provides opportunities to contribute to excellence in safety and environmental stewardship on major construction projects. ### Responsibilities Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures and best practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Lead the HSE team in conducting risk assessments, audits and inspections to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies. Provide strategic direction and management of HSE initiatives across all projects and departments. Facilitate incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Organize and deliver HSE training programs to enhance safety awareness among employees and subcontractors. Up-to-date knowledge of HSE regulations and emerging trends within the industry Prepare and present comprehensive reports on HSE performance to senior management Collaborate with project teams to ensure HSE considerations are integrated into project planning and implementation Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety and Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field Minimum 15 years’ experience in HSE management, preferably in the construction sector Strong knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards Proven track record in developing and implementing successful HSE programs Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills l With others Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Certifications in Health, Safety and Environment (e.g. NEBOSH, ISO 14001) highly desirable Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously Proficient in English. Arabic language is an advantage
