Senior Data Scientist - Platforms Metrics & Analytics

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to own the metrics and analytics layer of a growing e-commerce platform. You will drive how merchants understand and grow their businesses through data, ensuring every report, metric, and model delivered through the platform is accurate, unified, and built to scale. You will work closely with the Platform Reports Product Manager, Platform Data Quality Engineers, and partner with product managers across all product areas to unify data models and establish a single coherent analytical foundation. Your north star is the success of merchant reports and analytics, providing every merchant with a reliable, well-documented view of their growth.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science or analytics engineering
• at least 2 years in a senior or ownership-level role
• proven experience building or governing metrics layers/semantic models (e.g., dbt, LookML, or equivalent) used by multiple teams
• strong SQL and Python and deep comfort working with warehouse-level data (BigQuery, Clickhouse, Redshift, or similar)
• experience designing customer- or merchant-facing analytics products such as dashboards, embedded reports, or analytics APIs
• strong instinct for naming, documentation, and standards
• experience partnering with product managers to translate business questions into governed, reusable data models
• excellent communication skills to align multiple teams around a single source of truth
• nice to have experience in e-commerce or SaaS platforms and merchant analytics
• familiarity with metric stores or semantic layers at scale (Cube, dbt Semantic Layer, Metriql, etc.)
• experience defining API contracts and data documentation practices (data catalogs, OpenAPI specs, column-level lineage)
• statistical modeling or forecasting experience applied to growth analytics
• Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
