Commercial Manager

Job description

The Commercial Manager - Butchery leads the commercial strategy for the Butchery category, covering Fresh Meat, Poultry, Processed Meat and Value‑Added products. Drives sales growth, profitability, product quality, food safety and availability across all stores. Develops and executes the category strategy, manages assortment, pricing and seasonal promotions. Builds strong relationships with local and international suppliers, leads negotiations, annual trade agreements, investment plans and promotional funding. Monitors category performance – sales, margin, waste, shrinkage, stock availability and inventory turnover. Ensures compliance with food safety, quality, halal and regulatory standards. Collaborates with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality and Store teams to optimize availability and execution. Analyzes market trends, consumer preferences and competitor activity to identify growth and innovation opportunities. Develops value‑added and premium product ranges to enhance customer experience and profitability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Food Science, Agriculture, Supply Chain or related field
• 5-7 years of experience in Commercial, Category Management, Buying, Merchandising or Procurement within Butchery, Fresh Food, Retail, Hypermarkets, Supermarkets or FMCG
• strong knowledge of fresh meat, poultry, sourcing practices, supplier management and market dynamics
• proven experience in commercial negotiations, category planning, pricing strategies and promotional management
• strong understanding of food safety standards, quality assurance processes and regulatory requirements for fresh meat products
• strong analytical skills to evaluate sales performance, margins, waste and inventory metrics
• excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills
• advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools
