GIS Technician

Job description

Update and maintain geospatial databases, provide spatial data to project teams, analyze data for patterns and insights, and create digital maps. Prepare reports and documentation, develop custom GIS applications, and support enterprise GIS portal deployment. Implement security measures, manage GIS servers, design spatial database models, digitize analog maps, and apply geoprocessing techniques. Offer technical guidance and training to junior staff, develop training materials, review GIS deliverables for quality, and respond to client inquiries.

Requirements

• Diploma or Associate degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
• minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience
• working knowledge of GIS, CAD and BIM software
• proficiency with GIS software and database packages, workflows, hardware/software requirements and troubleshooting
• ability to analyze, interpret and resolve geospatial data issues
• ability to implement database design elements for efficient querying and reporting
• ability to implement data model structures representing geographic features
• ability to produce scaled maps with effective cartographic design
• ability to define and apply topology rules
• effective verbal and written communication skills
• proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications
• GIS‑related certification
• experience with Python, JavaScript, ModelBuilder or other programming languages
• experience with enterprise GIS portals, web services and mobile applications
• experience with spatial database design, indexing, constraints and performance optimization
• knowledge of quality assurance and control practices
• ability to provide technical guidance and training to junior GIS staff
• must be a Saudi National.
