Roads Design Engineer

Job description

At the employer you can build a rewarding career and work with an exceptional team. You will join the PMO on major highway and infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Review road and highway design drawings, reports and specifications prepared by third‑party designers at concept and detailed design stages, focusing on interfaces with structures, drainage, utilities and traffic. Develop and evaluate conceptual design options for roads, junctions and interchanges to support decision‑making. Contribute to value engineering studies to optimize geometry, pavement solutions and safety features. Prepare engineering details, sketches and exhibits to illustrate concepts and value‑engineering proposals. Review pavement design and road safety elements prepared by third parties. Provide coordinated technical comments on third‑party submissions. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (bridges, drainage, utilities, traffic, architecture/landscape) to resolve design issues and ensure integrated solutions. Deliver presentations on complex road and interchange designs to internal teams, clients and stakeholders. Assist in assessing design risks, constructability and phasing for major schemes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience in road and highway design, preferably on major highways and interchanges
• Proficiency in geometric road design including horizontal and vertical alignments, cross‑sections and junction layouts per international and local standards
• Experience reviewing third‑party designs and producing structured technical comments
• Working knowledge of pavement design principles and road safety engineering
• Good presentation and communication skills to explain technical issues to diverse stakeholders
• Previous experience in a design consultancy or PMC/PMO environment
• Proficiency with road design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, InRoads or equivalent.
