Design Engineer - Mechanical

Job description

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and reviewing all technical packages related to mechanical engineering, including major equipment such as chillers, pumps, motors, air handling units, cooling towers, and refrigerant management systems. Duties include preparing conceptual designs, technical assessments, and engineering documentation; reviewing design drawings, material selections, and submittals for compliance; developing Scope of Work, Bill of Quantities, and system specifications; performing HVAC load calculations, duct sizing, and equipment selection using appropriate software; conducting feasibility studies for upgrades or modifications; providing technical reports and improvement recommendations; coordinating with other engineering disciplines; offering technical support during execution, installation, and commissioning; and ensuring compliance with international codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, IBC, ANSI, ASME, ASTM, ARI, SAES, and SAMSS

Requirements

• Sound knowledge of international mechanical design codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASME, etc)
• proficiency in Excel
• proficiency in Word
• proficiency in PowerPoint
• experience with technical support
• knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration
• effective communication skills
• compliance with standards
• 5–6 years of experience in mechanical systems and HVAC design
• proficiency in design software such as HAP, Carrier, AutoCAD, Revit MEP
