Lab Equipment Maintenance Specialist - Workshop & Hydraulics

Job description

We are seeking a Lab Equipment Maintenance Specialist to provide maintenance, repair, and calibration services for research equipment. The specialist focuses on cooling systems, growth chambers, autoclaves, and glass washers to ensure maximum uptime and minimal downtime. Responsibilities include reactive and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues promptly, coordinating maintenance schedules with users and vendors, building relationships with manufacturers for support and training, identifying spare‑part needs and managing inventory, delivering clear training to users on operation and maintenance, complying with safety policies and promoting safe work practices, participating in professional development and team collaboration, and traveling up to 10% for training and external support.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HVACR or a related technical field
• minimum of 5 years hands‑on experience maintaining lab or refrigeration equipment, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs
• proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment focusing on hydraulics
• familiarity with equipment from manufacturers such as Buchi, CLF Plant Climatics, Systec, GE, Labconco, the employer, Smeg, the employer, Peak, Percival, and Thermo-Fisher
• ability to conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diverse laboratory apparatus
• familiarity with laboratory safety standards and best practices
• proven experience maintaining technologies such as ultra‑low temperature freezers, glassware washers, heat exchangers, press machines, chillers, heaters, and ovens
• effective communication skills for collaboration with engineering and lab personnel
• relevant technical degree or certification in Mechanics, Hydraulics, or a related field
• experience with calibration and validation procedures is a plus
