Senior Associate Environmental Specialist

Job description

the employer is seeking a Senior Associate Environmental Specialist to join its team. The role contributes to environmental strategies for high‑quality infrastructure and masterplan projects. Provides E(S)IA technical expertise across sectors such as infrastructure, community development, and marine/coastal projects. Coordinates and reviews inputs from other specialists, manages the project, and liaises with clients and regulators. Interprets assessment findings to design responses in masterplans and landscape designs and guides design teams. Prepares RFPs, evaluates environmental sub‑consultants, and monitors their deliverables.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Saudi environmental regulations and their application
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring and its role in E(S)IAs
• Experience in aligning E(S)IA reports with environmental safeguards of development financing institutions such as the World Bank and IFC
• Strong organizational and project management skills including the ability to deliver work on time
• Good communication skills with confidence to present E(S)IA findings in workshops and interact with regulatory authorities
• Ability to work directly with clients to identify and develop mitigation measures and environmental management programs
• Flexible and dynamic approach including the ability to work independently and coordinate within a team
• Extensive experience in writing proposals and contributing to complex bids
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an environmental field (preferred)
• Minimum 13 years of work experience in international engineering design, project management, sustainability consultancy, or related field
• Analytical skills for assessing suitable sub‑consultants
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Chartered with a relevant institute and/or registered EIA practitioner with IEMA (preferable but not mandatory)
