Tunnel Engineer

Job description

This position is integral to the successful delivery of our projects, ensuring that tunneling and underground works meet the highest standards and client expectations. The Tunneling Engineer will work closely with the Senior Tunneling Engineer and various teams to ensure the smooth execution of these complex projects. • Providing technical support and engineering guarantee for TTT tunnels and underground cavern works. • Ensure construction is in line with approved designs, methodologies and client standards. • Maintain strong coordination and communication with contractors and internal teams. • Assist in implementing construction methodologies for tunnel and cave works. • Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications. • Conduct QA/QC and inspections to maintain quality standards. • Collaborate with the Senior Tunneling Engineer on daily engineering tasks. • Keep up to date with industry standards and guidelines, especially EN/BS standards and ITA tunnel guidelines. • Provide technical guidance and support to the project team and contractors. • Contribute to the development and implementation of project procedures and protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mining engineering, or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in underground construction and tunneling projects.
• Exposure to TBM tunneling techniques (EPB, slurry, or hard rock) and caving methods (NATM/SEM or drill and blast).
• Experience in site-based roles on large scale infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of TBM operations, tunneling operations, underground excavation and support systems.
• Understand construction drawings, specifications, and QA/QC processes.
• Familiarity with EN/BS standards and ITA tunnel guidelines.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills to effectively collaborate with teams and contractors.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to meet construction challenges.
