Senior Electrical Engineer

Job description

Key responsibilities: Provide senior technical oversight of electrical works during construction, testing, commissioning and handover stages. Perform sanity checks on drawings, specifications, method statements, material submissions and technical proposals for compliance. Monitor installation of HV/MV/LV networks, substations, transformers, switchgear and distribution systems. Coordinate electrical works with civil, utilities, roads, architectural, mechanical, ICT and other disciplines. Ensure site activities comply with IFC drawings, specifications, approved materials and standards. Manage interfaces with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and other utility providers and authorities. Support Resident Engineer and Project Manager in obtaining technical and authority approvals. Track contractor progress against programme and flag electrical activities affecting milestones. Oversee testing and commissioning, ensuring inspections, tests and documentation are completed before handover. Review snagging items and ensure closure. Assist in preparing as‑built drawings, O&M manuals, testing records and final handover documents. Maintain professional communication with client, contractors, consultants and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
• minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in major infrastructure, utilities or development projects
• strong experience in HV/MV/LV distribution, substations, transformers, street lighting and external networks
• experience working in PMC, PMCM, engineering consultancy or construction supervision environments
• previous experience on major infrastructure or multidisciplinary development programmes
• previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC required
• good knowledge of SEC requirements, Saudi Building Code and applicable authority requirements
• good knowledge of international standards IEC, IEEE, NFPA and BS
• experience with testing, commissioning and handover of electrical systems
• professional engineering registration or membership of a recognized engineering institution preferred
• registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) preferred.
