Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Maintenance

Job description

the employer is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Utility Department at Sadara in Saudi Arabia. The role is critical for plant stability, focusing on mechanical integrity, maintenance, and reliability of world‑scale utility assets. You will be the technical expert for troubleshooting complex equipment failures and optimizing system lifecycle. Lead preventive and corrective maintenance of utility assets including high‑pressure boilers, steam turbines, and large‑scale pumping systems. Lead formal Root Cause Analysis investigations using 5‑Why or Fishbone methods. Implement Reliability‑Centered Maintenance strategies to improve Mean Time Between Failures for rotating and static equipment. Ensure mechanical reliability of steam headers, demineralized water plants, and cooling water networks. Define mechanical scope for major turnarounds and supervise overhaul of critical utility machinery. Manage third‑party maintenance contractors complying with strict petrochemical safety and quality standards. Monitor asset health through vibration reports, oil analysis, and thermography to predict failures. Ensure all repairs and modifications comply with API 610/617, ASME B31.3, and ASME Section VIII codes. Oversee work order lifecycle in SAP‑PM, ensuring accurate maintenance history and spare parts inventory. Drive a “Zero Harm” culture by conducting Job Safety Analyses and following Process Safety Management protocols. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and project success. Proven track record maintaining utility equipment such as boilers, RO plants, steam turbines, and air compressors. Demonstrated mastery of Root Cause Analysis and implementation of technical solutions in high‑pressure environments

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years of maintenance engineering experience in a petrochemical plant or oil refinery
• proficiency in SAP (Plant Maintenance module) and engineering design software AutoCAD
• deep familiarity with API and ASME codes relevant to refinery utilities
• fluent in English with ability to present technical reliability reports to plant leadership.
