Shift Charge Engineer

About the Role: Oversees all plant operation activities during the assigned shift. Key Responsibilities: Comply with all safety rules and regulations, maintaining full awareness of plant hazards; operate the plant according to established standards, minimizing risks to personnel, equipment and materials; coordinate plant operation activities with other departments during the shift; understand and apply the permit-to-work system, issuing and canceling permits as authorized; follow operational schedules to achieve targeted production availability safely and efficiently; make timely decisions to correct abnormalities or disturbances and take corrective actions during emergencies; supervise start‑up checklists, interlock checks, protection tests, and non‑routine activities such as preservation and acid cleaning; monitor overall plant status, summarize activities in the log book and prepare daily plant status reports; prepare incident and accident reports and other required departmental reports within stipulated timeframes; assist in training and familiarizing new shift personnel; study and propose modifications to improve plant efficiency; ensure environmental aspect‑impact and hazard risk assessments are conducted, controlled and updated; implement, monitor and report on Integrated Management System (IMS) objectives, targets and programs; report IMS deviations, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions; ensure regulatory compliance within the scope of activities; identify competency gaps for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions, including on‑the‑job training and performance evaluation; identify, document and control hazards in the assigned work area; control emergencies, incidents and near‑misses; communicate with the Load Dispatch Center

Requirements

• Familiarity with plant O&M agreements
• knowledge of P&IDs
• knowledge of SOPs
• knowledge of work instructions
• knowledge of operation and control logics
• knowledge of emergency operation procedures
• complete understanding of the permit-to-work system and procedures
• ability to coordinate plant chemistry activities with the chemist
• proficiency in maintaining accurate records of plant activities
• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field
