Lead Software Engineer - Financial Services

Job description

Develop financial products including payments, capital, and cash‑flow tools to support restaurants and merchants. Operate in a regulated environment with a focus on reliability, security, and correctness. Manage problems from discovery through design, build, launch, and iteration across backend services, APIs, data, and frontend as needed. Identify and address gaps in merchant flows, reconciliation, or service scalability and drive resolutions. Collaborate with Product, Design, Risk, and Compliance teams to define product direction, challenge requirements, propose alternatives, and provide data‑driven insights. Lead architecture decisions for financial transaction systems ensuring idempotency, consistency, auditability, security, and observability from inception. Promote adoption of AI tools to boost team output and identify AI integration opportunities in products and engineering workflows. Mentor senior and mid‑level engineers, improve design and code review quality, and contribute to team development. Evaluate and select appropriate languages, frameworks, and platforms based on problem requirements

Requirements

• 5-10 years of software engineering experience
• 6-10 years experience in financial services
• proficiency in full‑stack development practices
• experience with AI‑first development methodologies
• ability to approach problems from a product owner perspective
• skill in making architecture decisions for financial transaction systems
• experience mentoring senior and mid‑level engineers
• proficiency in selecting languages and frameworks based on specific problem requirements
