Job description

The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Expert serves as a senior technical authority responsible for planning, designing, integrating, and implementing advanced ITS solutions across major road, infrastructure, and urban development programs. The role focuses on delivering smart mobility systems that enhance traffic efficiency, safety, sustainability, and operational performance in line with national and international standards. The ITS Expert provides technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including concept planning, design, system integration, testing, commissioning, and operational optimization, supporting complex infrastructure and smart city initiatives. Leads planning, design, and integration of ITS including traffic management systems, adaptive signal control, incident detection, smart mobility platforms, and traveler information systems. Provides technical oversight to ensure ITS solutions are integrated within road and infrastructure projects. Develops and reviews system architectures, engineering designs, technical specifications, and performance requirements, ensuring interoperability among field devices, central control systems, and communication networks. Conducts feasibility studies, technical assessments, and operational analyses to support ITS deployment strategies, and oversees procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational handover. Monitors system performance and recommends enhancements to improve efficiency, reliability, and effectiveness, identifying technical risks and mitigation strategies. Collaborates with clients, government authorities, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful ITS integration, participates in design reviews, technical meetings, and project coordination, and provides expert technical advice. Ensures compliance with national regulations and international ITS standards such as ISO, IEC, IEEE, and transport authority requirements, and meets safety, cybersecurity, and operational performance standards. Prepares and reviews technical reports, specifications, drawings, and operational documentation, provides guidance and mentorship to engineers and project teams, and stays informed on emerging ITS technologies to recommend innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline
• Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred
• Professional membership with a recognized engineering institution preferred
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in Intelligent Transport Systems design, implementation, and integration
• Demonstrated experience delivering ITS solutions on major road, infrastructure, or smart city projects
• Proven involvement in design, system integration, testing, and commissioning of ITS systems
• Experience working in complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure environments
• Strong expertise in traffic management systems, signal control systems, surveillance systems, and ITS communication networks
• Knowledge of ITS architecture, system integration, and control center operations
• Familiarity with ITS standards, system lifecycle management, and operational requirements
• Proficiency in engineering design tools such as AutoCAD and ITS platforms
• Strong leadership and technical decision‑making capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills
